Turtledoves

Refer to the previous post. Remember the cooing turtledoves outside the bedroom window?
David and I were afraid they were building a nest. No prob. But we plan to take that air conditioner out of the window in late June (when we move), and we didn't want to have to scoot them to another windowsill.
So to make sure we didn't need to go ahead and shoo them off now, I carefully took out the piece of cardboard that filled in the empty space by the air conditioner and found this.
The bird pictured stared at me for a long time (today, yesterday, and the day before) then flew off as I pulled out the cardboard.
They managed to put this nest together in 3 days flat. (There are 2. They both stay there at night, cooing together. Mush and goo, mush and goo.)
As you can see, the nest is far enough from the air conditioner that we'll be able to get it out and leave the nest there. Good news! Also extremely cool is that we get to watch them lay eggs and then we get to see little nakey birds! The cuteness is killer - especially when you throw in that robot/cooing thing they do.

Atleast somebody's successfully making babies around here. Even the fish. Sheesh.
